Interesting Easter

We had a wonderful Easter weekend! We were able to go visit my family in Alabama and had a really nice time. My cousin Kim and her son Jackson came up from Birmingham and we got the babies together. IT was funny to watch Marley's reaction to Jack but she was all about him! She just wanted to play and give him hugs (though she wasn't quite sure how to do it). We took the babies to Tractor Supply to see the baby chicks and ducks. It was pretty cute.

We went to church Sunday morning and then joined the family at my Aunt Sandra's for dinner and an Easter egg hunt! That was really cute. My cousin Landria's boys, Jackson and Marley all hunted for eggs (which were plastic and had gold fish in them) and then posed for pictures! Marley really seems to like little children for someone who hasn't been around kids. She's going to be my social butterfly I think. Marley's family truly enjoyed seeing her and how much she has grown! My mom told me my Dad said he really missed her when we were gone! How sweet! Don't worry 20 G she will be back!

The part of the trip that was interesting was the return (or attempt to return) home to Dallas. We arrived at the Birmingham airport in plenty of time to catch our 11:25 am flight. We boarded on time and the flight wasn't full either. We were able to get a three row seat with the one in the middle free so baby could stretch out! Marley had just fallen asleep as the plane took off. That's when I noticed it. This really awful smell in the plane. It was like something electrical was burning. Jay noticed it too, but thought it was the baby. A passenger alerted a flight attendant who appeared to already be aware of the problem, but thanked him for the information. There was a pilot sitting in front of us for the ride home and an attendant asked for his help in the cockpit. Then another attendant walked swiftly through the plane with a small black book in one hand and her other hand over her heart! Now I was getting worried. The pilot came over the loud speaker and stated there may be a problem but it was nothing to be worried about. Then Jay noticed the plane was turning around. The pilot came back on and said we were turning around just as a precaution. Then the flight attendants began to teach us all the emergency measure like putting your head between your legs when we land, where and how to use the emergency ladders at the exits and all. It was extremely scary. I think everyone at that point was nervous. I held Marley extra tight but we landed just fine. There were emergency vehicles on the ground - fire trucks and ambulances - waiting for us! Thank goodness we didn't need them. They told us to grab all of our belongings off the plane and exit. We waited in the airport about 15 minutes when they informed us the plane would need repairing and a crew from Atlanta was coming to fix it. Basically we had to take another flight which would be the last flight of the day! Then the flight attendants were surrounded by emergency personal and taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation (that is what I would kind of make out from the fireman who were there). So basically there was an electrical fire on the plane, but the good news is we are all safe and sound! What a climactic end to a wonderful weekend!
